The 1995 Nissan AA-X stands for "Aria Aperta Sportiva". Functions that people desire of the car diversify more from year to year. The AA-X is seen meeting these needs and is a new sense multi-purpose car that seeks coherence with its original top structure - "a refreshing open car which allows comfortable driving with the wind" with "diverse use of a wagon which is appropriate for various life settings The view is to consider a vehicle not simply as a mode of transfer but to manage it skillfully and in a way that could be considered a life partner.."
In the interior, "the pleasure of driving" is aspired to. There is a sense of an extending meter/dial panel and a center console that seems to envelop the driver and simulates a light airplane cockpit. A grouping of four indicators with the tachometer at the center was arranged with enough consideration for visibility. Adopting EL light (electronic luminescence) creates an enjoyable night drive.
A plate with an EL light is set up in the door opening to improve convenience in alighting and boarding. Bucket-type sports seats are used upfront. Large space is provided for rear seating by thinning the front seatbacks. And a trunk open-through structure allows storage for two sets of golf bags. All is to improve practical use, which is the essence of interior design.
This AA-X expresses a sporty sense by balancing hot-rod styling and body colors that appeal to the young. New age styling was targeted in bold surfaces and lines. The exterior design is based on two open-seating styles and expresses a look of unfazed determination with a sculpturesque body shape. And, luggage space which allows storage for baggage even when four persons are aboard is guaranteed.
