Look familiar? Strip away the lardy curves of Chrysler's 2001 PT Cruiser, and this is what you find: the idea was distilled down to its essence and served up in 1997 as the Plymouth Pronto Concept. The Pronto Concept spawned another concept, the Plymouth Pronto Cruizer, which begat Chrysler's PT Cruiser. Chrysler settled on a more Rubenesque shape as a riposte to the Beetle and BMW's MINI.
